JIM PERKINS DIES; WAS RETIRED CAPT. IN TEXAS RANGERS Mr. Jim C. Perkins, 77, retired Texas Ranger died in a local hospital early Tuesday morning. He was the grandson of the late J. C. Perkins, first settler in the Yarrellton community. Perkins was a captain in the Texas Rangers for six years and worked for several years as a special agent for the Texas Cattlemans Association. Funeral services were at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Greens Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. J. E. Lafferty officiating. Burial was in North Elm Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jim Perkins of Rt. 2 Buckholts; one son, Jerry Perkins of Rio Linda, California; one sister, Mrs. Hallie Webb of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and a number of nieces and nephews. Perkins was a Texas Ranger; His service included: 25 August 1917 - Company C, Station Austin, Travis County 21 April 1919 - Company B, Station Marfa, El Paso County 5 January 1920 - Company F, Del Rio, El Paso County 8 March 1934 - Special Ranger, Station Yarrellton, Milam County. On the 21 Jan 1935 Ranger Perkins resigned. He was Marshal of Calvert, Texas for five years and from 1941 until 1945 he served as Brand Inspector for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raiser Association. His brother Elizey T. Perkins was also a Texas Ranger and is interred here at North Elm Cemetery as well.
