Gayle was born in Houston, Texas on February 25, 1938, but spent her childhood in Rockdale, Texas. She returned to Houston upon graduating from high school. Gayle met her husband Charles and raised their children in Houston. When Gayle wasn't volunteering for her children's schools and activities, she was painting. When Charles retired, they moved to Katy, TX. Gayle and her husband were awarded the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce Volunteers of the Year. Their contributions have led to improvements and opportunities that are available for virtually every Katy resident to enjoy. By volunteering with the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, Cinco Ranch Area Art League, Cinco Ranch Ladies Club, KVPAC and the Katy Performing Arts Society, Gayle has helped create enriching programs for Katy area residents of all ages. As a charter member of the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Library, Gayle's work was instrumental in making the library a reality. Fondly referred to as the "Velvet Bulldozer," she is commended for leadership skills that can be described as gentle, firm and persistent and for getting the job done. Gayle has one of the three lakes in Cinco Ranch named after her for all the contributions she has made to the Katy area. Gayle was an avid Genealogist.
