  • Obituary: VIDA JANE PIEKERT Vida Jane Piekert, 69, of Cameron died April 22 in a Temple hospital. The Rev. Gene VanNoord officiated at her funeral April 26 at North Elm Cemetery in Cameron. She was born Nov. 6, 1934 in Big Spring to Robert Leslie and Hattie Kathryn (Massey) Perkins. She served in the US Army and taught school. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Cameron. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Lynn Perkins in 2003. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl Thompson and husband Chuck of Madisonville and Julia Taylor and husband Leland of Cameron; sister Dodi Marek and husband Daniel of Cameron; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
