  • Obituary: BETTYE LOU GIBBS ERMIS CAMERONâ€â€Funeral services for Bettye Lou Ermis, 71, of Cameron were held Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Burial followed in North Elm Cemetery near Yarrellton. Mrs. Ermis died Tuesday, Jan. 19, in a Cameron nursing facility. She was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Cameron to William C. and Elsie Ray (Fuller) Gibbs. She married Flirsh Ermis on Oct. 18, 1957, and he preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Ermis worked as a Jailer for Milam County for many years. She served as vice president of North Elm Cemetery Association for many years and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Ermis was also active with the Milam County Museum. Survivors are a son, Steven Ermis of Temple; three daughters, Deborah Gain of Sparks, Nevada, Marilyn Ulicnik of Cameron, Carol Beth Ermis of Bryan; and a special friend, Bill Shelander of Cameron; also, 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
