- Obituary: GILES HOUSTON Giles Houston, 62, of Bay Saint Louis, Miss. and formerly of Cameron, died April 20 in a Mississippi hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1912 in Milam County and was a retired farmer. Funeral was at 2 p. m. April 22 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. J. E. Lafferty officiating. Burial was in the North Elm Cemetery. Surviving are one son, Larry Houston of San Francisco, Calif; brothers, Hubert Houston of La Marque and J. Y. - Obituary: DEATH OF PIONEER The death of J. Y. Houston occurred last Monday afternoon near his home in the North Elm Community, deceased being a victim of heart trouble. Mr. Houston had been complaining a little for several days and Monday afternoon he left the house to go out and cut some wood, a short distance from the house, but did not return as soon as his wife thought he should. Mrs. Houston made investigation and found him dead. J. Y. Houston was 70 years of age and had lived in Milam County for 35 years. He was a most highly respected citizen and a man whom everybody liked. Besides his wife the deceased is survived by seven living children; there is also one son dead. They are: Will H. Houston of North Elm, Walter Houston of Lott, Mrs. Della Crook of Jones Prairie, Mrs. Minnie Russell of North Elm, Miss Viola and Charley Houston who live at home and Sam Houston of this city. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the North Elm Cemetery and interment made at the same place in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and loving friends that had come to pay respect to a useful and honored citizen, whose lifes work will ever be remembered for his good deeds. - Obituary: L. H. HOUSTON DIES IN CAMERON TUESDAY L. H. Houston, 53, of Buckholts, died in a local hospital at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. He had been ill for several months from kidney infection and while his condition was regarded as serious did not become critical until Monday. Mr. Houston was a native of Milam county, born October 12, 1888, and had lived here all his life. Funeral services will be held from the Marek-Burns Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, with interment in the cemetery at North Elm. The body will be at the family home until the funeral hour Wednesday. Rev. T. D. McCreary of Buckholts and Rev. P. L. Caperton of Cameron will conduct the services. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Della Houston; nine children, Robert Houston of Galveston; J. Y. Houston of Cameron; Giles Houston, Elwood Houston, Mrs. Lamb Russell, Kenneth Houston, Osa Lee Houston, Ida Fay Houston, Minnie Nell Houston, all of Buckholts; three brothers, Will Houston of Cameron, Wanton Houston of Marlin; Sam Houston of North Elm. - Obituary: J. T. HOWARD DIES AT HOME NEAR NORTH ELM J. T. Howard, 75, resident of the North Elm community for the past 40 years, died suddenly at his home 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 4 p. m. at the North Elm church with Rev. Sanders of Cameron officiating. Burial will be in North Elm with Phillips & Luckey of Belton in charge.
